Refugio writes about her and her father’s experience of being providers to the bracero labor camps with food and related items from 1941-1964. It is mentioned that there were plenty of companies that had been helping set up labor camps for the braceros but also providing them with anything they needed like food or a comfortable place to sleep.
There is mention of Sunkist which developed camps and facilities for the bracero workers in San Diego county to live in during the time they were harvesting. They also mention that there were places for men to do their laundry and take showers, they would eat together and sleep in bunk beds which were used to save space.
