Craig Sherod takes us through the history behind the Bracero Program. In this video, there are pictures of Mexican families who were part of the bracero program. Sherod mentions the way that many Mexican men came to the united states and described the process of entry into the U.S. When entering, men had to present their documentation, be inspected, tested, and even fumigated before being sent to their specific job site.
In this video we also hear from braceros, Jesus Colmenero and Fidel Villaroel, they speak about their experiences and the ways in which they saw the way this program took advantage of them. Colmenero mentions the way he had to go through fumigators before working. Villaroel speaks about his life before the program and his financial struggles, he goes on to speak about the experience and the way he noticed this program was more like a business.
